About our readers:
ASHLEY C. FORD lives in Brooklyn by way of Indiana. She is (mostly) a writer, editor, and public speaker. She is currently writing a memoir, and hosting Brooklyn-based news & culture show, 112BK. Ford has written or guest-edited for The Guardian, ELLE, BuzzFeed, Slate, Teen Vogue, New York Magazine, Lenny Letter, and various other web and print publications. She also taught creative non-fiction writing at The New School and Catapult.co. Ford previously worked as a development executive for Matter Studios, where she focused on web series and documentaries, and was also the host of the first season of Audible.com's literary interview series, Authorized. She has been named among Forbes Magazine's 2017 30 Under 30 in Media, and Brooklyn Magazine's 2016 Brooklyn 100.
ABEER Y. HOQUE is a Nigerian born Bangladeshi American writer and photographer. She likes sliding doors and choosing your own adventure. Her books include a travel photography and poetry monograph (The Long Way Home, 2013), a linked collection of stories, poems, and photographs (The Lovers and the Leavers, 2015), and a memoir (Olive Witch, 2017). SARAH PERRY holds an M.F.A. in nonfiction from Columbia University, where she served as publisher of Columbia: A Journal of Literature and Art and was a member of the journal's nonfiction editorial board. She is the recipient of a Writers’ Fellowship from the Edward F. Albee Foundation and a Javits Fellowship from the U.S. Department of Education, and has attended residencies at Norton Island in Maine and PLAYA in Oregon. Perry’s prose has appeared in Blood & Thunder magazine, Bluestockings Literary Journal, Elle.com, and The Guardian. Her memoir After the Eclipse was published in Fall 2017 by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. She lives in Brooklyn.
JASON TOUGAW is a professor of literature at City University of New York. He is the author of two nonfiction books, Strange Cases: The Medical Case History and the British Novel and Touching Brains: Literary Experiments in 21st-Century Neuromania. Tougaw’s memoir The One You Get: Portrait of a Family Organism is the winner of the 2017 Dzanc Nonfiction Prize. Excerpts from The One You Get have appeared in Boys to Men: Gay Men Write about Growing Up and Electra Street: A Journal of the Arts and Humanities. He blogs about the relationship between art and science at Californica.net.
