Make a Bequest

"Not marble, nor the gilded monuments
Of princes, shall outlive this powerful rhyme."
            —Shakespeare

It is precisely because poetry is more lasting than monuments that the Academy of American Poets has been a necessary organization for more than four generations, and a central place for people who love poetry and literature to remember others in perpetuity.

Please take a moment today to ensure future generations have access to American poetry by pledging to leave a gift to the Academy of American Poets in your estate plans. Individuals who designate a gift to us in their will and inform us of their doing so, become a part of the Marie Bullock Society, named for our founder.

This special group of individuals receives mention in our annual report. If you are looking for bequest language, we recommend the following:

“I give, devise, and bequeath to the Academy of American Poets, 75 Maiden Lane, Suite 901, New York, NY 10025, the sum of $________ (or property described) for its general purposes. Their tax identification number is 13-1879953.”

If you are interested in information about making other kinds of planned gifts, please contact us at academy@poets.org.
