Jóhann Hjálmarsson, born on July 2, 1939, in Reykjavík, was an Icelandic poet, translator, and literary critic. He is the author of seventeen books of poetry, six collections of translations, five anthologies of Icelandic poetry, and six chapbooks. He died on November 27, 2020.
