Max Eastman

Max Forrester Eastman, born on January 4, 1883, in Canandaigua, New York, was a poet, novelist, memoirist, editor, and political writer. He was the author of five collections of verse, including Child of the Amazons and Other Poems (Mitchell Kennerley, 1913) and Colors of Life (A. A. Knopf, 1918), as well as an editor for The Masses and The Liberator, two early American magazines of socialist politics. He died on March 25, 1969.
