George Ticknor

George Ticknor, born on August 1, 1791, in Boston, Massachusetts, was an American writer, educator, translator, and Hispanist. He is the author of the History of Spanish Literature (John Murray, 1849), considered to be the first comprehensive study of Spanish literature in English. He died on January 26, 1871.
