In 2023, Erin Elizabeth Smith was named an Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellow. Smith will host a two-day survival and healing retreat for survivors of sexual assault. Open to writers of all backgrounds from Oak Ridge, the retreat will connect survivors with poets and writers from across the country who use trauma-informed teaching techniques and focus on healing, safety, and comfort. The retreat will culminate in an anthology project, which will be available in print and online.
