Gwendolyn Brooks Centennial Celebration

Celebrate the 100th birthday of Gwendolyn Brooks (1917-2000) with poets Angela Jackson and Quraysh Ali Lansana, who will read Brooks’ work and engage in a conversation on her legacy. A Shelley Memorial Award winner, Jackson is the author of numerous plays, novels and poetry collections, including the National Book Award-nominated And All These Roads Be Luminous: Poems Selected and New (Northwestern University Press, 1998). Lansana is the author of numerous poetry collections, including mystic turf (Willow Books, 2012) and They Shall Run: Harriet Tubman Poems (Third World Press, 2004);  with Nate Marshall and Kevin Coval, he edited The BreakBeat Poets: New American Poetry in the Age of Hip Hop (Haymarket Books, 2015). Co-hosted by the NYU Creative Writing Program.
