Garrison Keillor’s The Writer’s Almanac

Garrison Keillor’s The Writer’s Almanac

Garrison Keillor, best known as the host of A Prairie Home Companion, hosts a daily feature on public radio stations around the country called The Writer’s Almanac. The programs are approximately five minutes long and feature Keillor reading a poem and offering literary and historical facts of interest such as birthdays and anniversaries of literary events. In the past the show has featured poems by James Wright, Ted Hughes, Anne Sexton, Walt Whitman, David Wagoner, Allen Ginsberg, Mary Oliver, and many more.

The Writer's Almanac maintains an Internet archive of past shows that stretches back to 2001. Their website also offers a daily email newsletter with the text of that day’s broadcast. Check your local radio listings for stations and times of broadcast; a list of participating stations can be found on The Writer’s Almanac's website.
