Thumping

by William Corbett

Fisherman's arm
Up and down
Like a pump handle
The old-fashioned way
Flashing a large silver
Spangle off the bottom
Where lakers lurk in August.
Barefoot Thelonious and Bruno
Run in the grass of memory.
