Each year poet bloggers throughout the country participate in NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month). An adaptation of National Novel Writing Month, NaPoWriMo challenges participants to write and post a poem each day in April.
To mark the fifth anniversary of NaPoWriMo, Poets.org is raising the stakes of the challenge by organizing a pledge drive—both to offer additional incentives for participation and to raise funds necessary to expand the free poetry resources we offer throughout the year.
How It Works
Write & Post - Challenge yourself to write at least one poem each day, publishing them on your blog or in the NaPoWriMo area of our discussion forum.
Secure Pledges - Ask friends and relatives to sponsor you, pledging to donate a set amount each day you participate. (Minimum total donation per sponsor: $5)
Compete for Prizes - At the end of April, the individuals who raise the most pledged donations in their name will receive poetry prizes and merchandise.
To get started, download and print the Pledge Collection Form PDF to help you keep track of your pledges.
PRIZES INCLUDE
• A one-year membership in the Academy of American Poets
• Award-winning poetry books
• Audio Archive Anthology CDs
• The Poet's View DVD
• Promotional buttons, stickers, and more!
Pledge drive winners will also be honored by name in one of our popular Poets.org newsletters.
HOW TO DONATE
Poets.org will not contact your pledge sponsors. Instead, individuals can donate their final amount directly through our secure donations server: www.poets.org/pledge.
Pledge donations can be made at any time, but only those received between March 15 and May 15 will count toward your individual total. Pledge sponsors must include the participant's name and email address, along with "Pledge Drive," in the comments section of the donation form.
Questions and concerns can be sent by email to info@poets.org.
