One of the Academy’s most legendary readings occurred on Halloween night, 1963, when John Berryman and Robert Lowell read at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City. This classic reading—as well as scores of others from the last 40 years—is now available on CD from our online Poetry Gift Shop.
Today, the Academy continues to present a wide variety of readings and events throughout the year, including an annual Chancellors Reading and our Awards Ceremony. We also partner with organizations across the country to bring poets into as many local communities as possible. Connect with great poetry by attending a reading, visiting a literary landmark, or forming a book club in your area.

The Poetry Book Club aims to enhance the reading of poetry, both the private pleasure of the individual as well as the collective appreciation of a group. The proliferation of book groups in the last decade has inspired Poets.org to create a meeting place for poetry book groups, with where-to-begin suggestions, ideas for formats, and reading lists by contemporary poets. |
