Alan Shapiro to Read from New Collection, Against Translation

We often ask ourselves what gets lost in translation—not just between languages, but also between what we experience and what we are able to say about it. The visionary poems of Alan Shapiro’s latest collection, Against Translation, invite us to consider: what is loss, in translation? Shapiro is the author of thirteen collections of poetry, including Reel to Reel (2014), a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. He has received of numerous poetry prizes, including two NEA awards, a Guggenheim fellowship, and the O.B. Hardison Jr. Poetry Prize.

Revival: A Monthly Literary Arts Spotlight

"Revival: A Monthly Literary Arts Spotlight" will feature poets & writers María Luisa Arroyo, Jasmine Jina Ortiz, Shane Robitaille, Marilyn Márquez, Eilish Thompson, and Alvilda Sophia Anaya-Alegría.

Open Mic after intermission. Books for sale by authors. Audience members (18+) warmly welcomed to this reading.
