In 1947, Delaware established a state poet laureate position, which is currently held by the Twin Poets, Nnamdi Chukwuocha and Albert Mills, who were appointed in 2015. Respected poets on the spoken word scene, Chukwuocha and Mills have performed with poets such as Chinua Achebe, Amiri Baraka, the Last Poets, Haki Madhubuti, Walter Mosley, and Sonia Sanchez.
