U.S. Poets, Including Four Academy Chancellors, Attend Poetry Festival in Cuba for the First Time in More than Sixty Years

Academy Chancellors Brenda Hillman, Jane Hirshfield, David St. John, and Arthur Sze, and former Academy Chancellor Robert Hass, are part of an official contingent of American writers traveling to Cuba for the first time in over six decades to participate in the 21st International Poetry Festival of Havana. The festival, which runs from July 8 to July 16, 2017, is sponsored by the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba and includes meetings, readings, exhibitions, book launches, and concerts in different municipalities in Havana.
