In this video, Quraysh Ali Lansana stops by the Academy of American Poets to discuss his latest editorial project, The Breaktbeat Poets: New American Poetry in the Age of Hip-Hop, co-edited by Kevin Coval and Nate Marshall. When asked to define breakbeat poetics, Lansana says, "A breakbeat poet moves through world with the culture and the music as the soundtrack for the way they think and the way they see.” The anthology is scheduled to be released this week by Haymarket Books.
