New York, NY (March 18, 2019)—The Academy of American Poets, the producer of Poets.org, is pleased to announce a new partnership with Poetry Northwest to share poems first published in this influential journal. A sampler of poems from Poetry Northwest is now accessible to Poets.org’s many millions of readers, including poems by Don Bogen, Elizabeth Knapp, Karen An-hwei Lee, and Mark Wagenaar.

“It’s exciting to partner with Poetry Northwest, one of the country’s oldest literary magazines dedicated to the genre. We’re thrilled they’ve joined our lineup of content partners and look forward to sharing the work they publish with an even wider audience on Poets.org.” said Jeffery Gleaves, digital engagement and content director of the Academy of American Poets.

Poetry Northwest joins Words Without Borders, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Tin House, The Cincinnati Review, Kenyon Review, and Quarterly West as content partners of the Academy of American Poets.

Journals interested in working with Poets.org to extend their digital reach are encouraged to contact Jeffery Gleaves, at [email protected].

About the Academy of American Poets

The Academy of American Poets is the largest membership-based nonprofit organization fostering an appreciation for contemporary poetry and supporting American poets. The organization produces Poets.org, the world’s largest publicly funded website for poets and poetry; originated and organizes National Poetry Month; publishes the popular Poem-a-Day series and American Poets magazine; creates and distributes Teach This Poem and other award-winning resources for K-12 educators; hosts an annual series of poetry readings and special events; and awards the American Poets Prizes. In addition, the Academy of American Poets coordinates a national Poetry Coalition working together to promote the value poets bring to our culture and the important contribution poetry makes in the lives of people of all ages and backgrounds.

About Poetry Northwest

The mission of Poetry Northwest remains what it has been since its founding in 1959—to give place and attention to each poem it publishes, to serve as a gateway for emerging writers, to represent its vital corner of the continent to a broader audience, and to attract and sustain readers with the promise of discovery. In every issue of the magazine as well online and in books, Poetry Northwest is interested in the ways that poetry intersects with the other arts and sciences, the way that poetry has adapted to new modes of composition and distribution, and the role that poetry can play in restoring sanity, nuance, and balance to civic discourse. At the root of this vision, though, is the poem itself—its unique and special propensity for binding together the varieties of experience in words, form and feeling.
