The Poets and Writers Coalition at San Jose State University is celebrating National Poetry Month with the Legacy of Poetry Festival: Celebrating the Poetry of Migration and Diaspora. Recently concluded events include readings by Pulitzer Prize for Poetry winner Peter Balakian, former U. S. Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera, and Lannan Literary Fellow Javier Zamora.

On April 19, San Jose State University alumna Carmen Giménez Smith will read from her work and be in conversation with Alan Soldofsky. California Poet Laureate Dana Gioia will close the month-long celebration on April 23 with a reading and a conversation with California Poet Laureate Emeritus Al Young.
