November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), a thirty-day commitment to work toward the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 p.m. on November 30. For current and aspiring novelists, NaNoWriMo provides an encouraging and structured approach to writing a novel.

While the focus of NaNoWriMo is inspiring writers of lengthy prose, poets can also take this opportunity to challenge themselves with daily writing goals, experiment with more prosaic forms, and explore work that may straddle the line between poetry and prose.
