Deborah Paredez

Deborah Paredez received a PhD from Northwestern University. She is the author of the poetry collections Year of the Dog (BOA, 2020), which was a finalist for the CLMP Firecracker Award, and This Side of Skin (Wings Press, 2002). Also an interdisciplinary performance scholar, she authored the critical study, Selenidad: Selena, Latinos, and the Performance of Memory (Duke, 2009). Paredez is a cofounder of CantoMundo, a national organization supporting Latinx poets and poetry. She teaches creative writing and ethnic studies at Columbia University and lives in New York City.
