Fourth of July
Known as Independence Day, the Fourth of July is an annual, federal holiday that celebrates American independence from Great Britain. In 1776, Thomas Jefferson’s most famous piece of writing, the Declaration of Independence, was born and signed by the delegates of the Continental Congress. Today the Fourth of July is still celebrated as the birth of our country as we know it, and the holiday rings in the summer with fireworks, barbecues, gatherings, and parades.
