About this Poem

“Winter Trees” was published in Sour Grapes: A Book of Poems (The Four Seas Company, 1921).

the long branches.
Thus having prepared their buds
against a sure winter
the wise trees

   The dusky child
Sleeping sits upright.
   Lo how
                    The winds blow now!
