About this poet

Luljeta Lleshanaku is an Albanian-born poet and author of several poetry collections, most recently, Negative Space, translated by Ani Gjika (New Directions, 2018). Her other books include Haywire: New & Selected Poems (Bloodaxe Books, 2011), Child of Nature (New Directions, 2010), and Fresco (New Directions, 2002). She currently serves as the research director at the Institute of Studies of Communist Genocide and lives in Albania.
