CALYX was established in 1976 by four women with a vision of a high-quality forum for art and literature. A collective of editors read and select work from unsolicited manuscripts and make decisions based on artistic excellence, with a strong commitment to emerging writers and to representing the voices of all women. In 1986, CALYX began to publish books and has since published collections of poetry, short fiction, novels, creative nonfiction, and anthologies.
