#PoetryNear You Pick of the Week: Poems for Parkland: Poetry of Peace

Please join us on March 13, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Broward College - North Campus (1100 Coconut Creek Blvd, Building 62, Coconut Creek, FL 33066), for a poetry reading on the eve marking one month since the tragic event that took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Poems for Parkland: Poetry of Peace will feature poems by students and community members impacted by the tragedy, with a special address from the Poet Laureate of Florida, Peter Meinke. This is an apolitical event organized with the intention to emphasize the cathartic power of the written and spoken word to bring solace, healing, and peace for unifying the community. Trauma and bereavement counselors will also be on hand.
