Each year during National Poetry Month in April, the Academy of American Poets presents a gala celebration of poetry's important place in our culture, and its impact on the lives of readers. The event—Poetry & the Creative Mind—is held at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall and features leading and legendary actors, dancers, artists, musicians, and public figures on one stage sharing their favorite poems.

The always inspiring evening is a benefit that raises funds to support the educational programs of the Academy of American Poets, including resources for teachers on Poets.org, the Dear Poet project for K-12 students, and materials created and distributed to 125,000 libraries and classrooms for National Poetry Month, which was established by the Academy in 1996 and is now the largest literary celebration in the world.
The 14th annual Poetry & the Creative Mind gala will take place on Wednesday April 27, 2016, at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall. VIP tickets to the reading and reception will go on sale in December. General admission tickets to the reading will be available through the Alice Tully Hall box office in early 2016.
