Emily Johnson and Cuthwulf Eileen Myles are two multi-hypenate artist powerhouses and dear Poetry Project friends whose works and lives and working lives think through the knot of desire, connection, futurity, relationships, the land, time, life, memory, death, just about everything else.

Emily Johnson is an artist who makes body-based work. She is of the Yup'ik Nation, is a land and water protector and an organizer for justice, sovereignty and well-being. She lives on the Lower East Side of Mannahatta in Lenapehoking.

Cuthwulf Eileen Myles (they/them, b. 1949) is a poet, novelist and art journalist whose practice of vernacular first-person writing has made them one of the most recognized writers of their generation. Pathetic Literature, which they edited, came out in Fall of 22. a “Working Life”, their newest collection of poems, is out now. They live in New York & in Marfa, TX.
