One of the major literary events of our time, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath has been noted as "essential reading for all who have been moved and fascinated by her life and work." Plath's complete, uncensored journals appear in their entirety for the first time in this collection edited by Karin V. Kukil. Although Plath's journals were first published in 1982, they appeared in a heavily abridged version authorized by her husband, Ted Hughes. This new edition is an exact and complete transcription of the diaries Plath kept during the last twelve years of her life. Sixty percent of the material presented in the book has never before been made public. This collection sheds light on the intensity of Plath's personal and literary struggles, and provides new insight into both her frequent desperation and the bravery with which she faced her demons.
