Introduced by Eliot Weinberger, October 6, 1994, New School University

"Writing in the real speech of the places they come from," says Eliot Weinberger in his introduction to this reading. This recording presents two poets who are both "oral and highly literary." Each is at once "worth hearing and worth reading," Weinberger adds. And each reads in the distinctive style for which he is known—Ginsberg in presenting his last poems, recently collected in the posthumous volume, Last Fame—and Brathwaite in delivering The Rwanda Poems. Length: 70 min.
