1989. Introduced by Helen Vendler.
This reading took place during Nemerov's tenure as U.S. Poet Laureate. Helen Vendler notes in her introduction that "the great strength of Nemerov's poetry is that it manages to preserve the intelligence intact while giving equal time to the heart."
A recipient of the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and the Bollingen Prize, as well as a noted writer of fiction, Howard Nemerov gives a reading that is no less witty and warm as it is intelligent.
Length: 72 min.
