1966. Introduced by Brian O'Doherty. Recovering from surgery, Graves travelled a long way from the village of Dejá on the coast of Mallorca to make a winter reading tour of the United States. He offered his New York audience for this reading a representation of his poems covering a span of more than 50 years. His listeners were--and will be--charmed by the poet's witty anecdotal asides and the epigrammatic tidiness for which his poems are well known. Among the more than forty poems on the recording is "To Juan at the Winter Solstice." Length: 67 min. |
