The Academy of American Poets presents a reading with Robert Hass and Barbara Ras at AWP in Denver.
Robert Hass is the author of numerous books, including the forthcoming The Apple Trees at Olema Ecco/HarperCollins, 2010); Time and Materials (Ecco/HarperCollins, 2007), which won the National Book Award for 2007; Sun Under Wood (1996); Human Wishes (1989); Praise (1979); and Field Guide (1973), which was selected by Stanley Kunitz for the Yale Younger Poets Series. A former U.S. Poet Laureate, Hass teaches at the University of California, Berkeley.
Barbara Ras's latest book of poetry, The Last Skin, is forthcoming from Penguin, and her other collections include One Hidden Stuff (Penguin, 2006) and Bite Every Sorrow (LSU Press, 1998), which received the Walt Whitman Award and the Georgia Author of the Year Award for poetry. Her honors include the Ascher Montandon Award, the Kate Tufts Discovery Award, and a Guggenheim Fellowship. She is the director of Trinity University Press.
