Please join us for an evening with Laurie Sheck. She will present her genre-defying new book, A Monster’s Notes (Knopf, 2009), in a mixed-media presentation which brings in the nonfiction elements of Mary Shelley’s life and blends them with the fictional aspects of her book. Reception to follow.
Laurie Sheck is the author of five books of poetry, including Captivity (Knopf, 2007) and The Willow Grove (1996), which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. A recent Fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard and at the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library, she has published her work widely in such publications as The New Yorker, The New York Times, and Boston Review. She teaches in the MFA Program at the New School and lives in New York City.
