Bob Heman
BOB HEMAN’s prose poems have appeared in numerous publications including Sentence, Quick Fiction, Paragraph, The Prose Poem: an International Journal, Caliban, First Intensity, Artful Dodge, Key Satch(el), Lost and Found Times and many others, and have been translated into Arabic, Spanish and Hungarian. Since 1972 he has edited Clown War and its successor CLWN WR, one of 84 “important magazines” honored with annotation in The Little Magazine in America: A Modern Documentary History (Pushcart Press, 1978).
Jennifer Prado
JENNIFER PRADO completed an undergraduate degree in Fiction Writing at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and, upon arrival in NYC, had an accidental career in finance that involved numbers and selling widgets. She left NYC after 9/11 and moved to South America to write and re-evaluate life. The end result was a novel and a collection of short fiction. Jennifer has been published in numerous internet magazines including: Pindeldyboz, Small Spiral Notebook, Tower of Babel, and Word Riot.
Carol Novack
CAROL NOVACK, MHR's Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, is a long lapsed criminal defense and constitutional lawyer. Her stories, poems and fusions have appeared and are forthcoming in many online and print publications, including The Penguin Book of Australian Women Poets, Anenome Sidecar, Big Bridge , Diagram, elimae, 5_Trope, LIT Magazine, Milk, Pindeldyboz, Retort, and Yankee Pot Roast. She's the author of a chapbook of poems and is co-editing an anthology of "intoxicating" short fictions.
Pete Dolack
PETE DOLACK, MHR’s non-fiction editor, worked as a newspaper journalist before becoming an activist and poet. As an activist he has worked with several groups, including the National People's Campaign, New York Workers Against Fascism, the Brooklyn Greens and the environmental organization No Spray Coalition, of which he was one of the founders. His first full-length book of poetry is forthcoming from a publisher to be determined, and he is working on a book examining the history of the 20th century's socialist experiments. He is also the publisher of Eastwaterfront Press (www.eastwaterfront.com).
Amy Marie Bucciferro
AMY MARIE BUCCIFERRO, MHR’s PR Director, is a poet, comedian, and free-roaming critic of the arts. She grew up in New York's Capitol Region and hung around in the Nation's Capitol after attending The George Washington University, where she performed with the improv and sketch comedy troupe Capitol Goga and edited the literary journal The GW Review. Her poetry has been published in a smattering of student and international journals and she has received awards from the Folger Shakespeare Library and the Academy of American Poets.
Elizabeth Smith
ELIZABETH SMITH, one of MHR’s fiction editors and columnists, juggles being a writer, artist, and teacher, sometimes confusing herself and others. Her short stories are published in Starry Night Review, Terrain, Carve, and Smoke Long Quarterly and MHR. Elizabeth is the recipient of residencies and fellowships at Byrdcliffe and Ragdale for her novel-in-progress, Loveland.
A limited edition of signed "Homeland Security" posters (our cover artwork for Issue 5) created by contributing artist & writer Marty Duane Ison will be on sale.
