Booked Breakfast at The Writers Room Featuring Best American Poetry's Stacey Harwood
December 13, 2013, 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
The Writers Room, 740 Broadway, 12th Floor, New York City, NY

IDEASMYTH PRESENTS: BOOKED BREAKFASTS AT THE WRITERS ROOM
A CUPPA JOE AND BRAIN FOOD TO GO!

FEATURING:

Stacey Harwood, Managing Editor of the Best American Poetry Blog

Ideasmyth continues its Booked Breakfast series of casual book-club-meets-book-signing-meets-quality-nosh-confab featuring Stacey Harwood, the Managing Editor of the award winning Best American Poetry blog. Join Ideasmyth at The Writers Room to get the inside story on how the BAP blog has developed into what NPR’s Ken Tucker calls a “lively and energetic” resource for writers. Stacey will discuss how a group blog can be an effective means to complement and build a brand, foster lasting relationships among writers, and provide a platform for established and emerging writers to explore their passions without editorial interference. One guest blogger’s book had its genesis in a series of blog posts; another’s was included in the annual Best American Music Writing. The Best American Poetry blog is regularly ranked among the top sites for poetry and poetry lovers and draws a wide international readership. This series is graciously hosted by The Writers Room, located just south of Astor Place, and will take place 8:30-10am.

Stacey Harwood was until recently a policy analyst for the New York State Public Service Commission. Her poems and essays have appeared in The LA Times, Michigan Quarterly Review, Humor, Lit, Saveur, Tablet, the Wall Street Journal, The Inquisitive Eater, Saveur, and elsewhere. Her panel discussion about the Best American Poetry blog drew a full house at the Association of Writers and Writing Program (AWP) 2012 conference in Chicago. Paul Muldoon selected her poem Contributors' Notes for The Best American Poetry 2005.
