Andrea Witzke Slot Reading

Andrea Witzke Slot is the author of To find a new beauty (Gold Wake Press, 2012), a book which Marge Piercy describes as “rich with cool, intelligent and carefully crafted poems that often have a subtext of terror and darkness." Her poetry can also be found in such journals as Verse DailyBorderlands: Texas Poetry ReviewTranslation Review, The Pacific Review, and Connotation Press. She is finishing a novel titled The Cartography of Flesh: In the Silence of Ella Mendelssohn, a second poetry collection titled Between My Country and the Others, as well as an academic book that explores multi-voiced poetry as a source of social justice and democratic understanding. She teaches at the University of Illinois at Chicago and is the book review editor at Fifth Wednesday Journal as well as an associate editor at Rhino Poetry. She lives just outside of Chicago with her husband, the youngest of her five children/stepchildren, and her crazy West Highland Terrier, Macbeth. Her website is:
