Please join us for a poetry reading by East Bay poets to celebrate the release of Between the Fault Lines: Eight East Bay Poets (Sugartown Publishing), hosted by Editor Jannie M. Dresser.
Contributing poets include Marianne Betterly, Nalini Davison, Martha DeWitt, Jannie M. Dresser, Evie Groch, Judy Maher, Anita May, and Carolyn Yale.
These East Bay poets worked together for nearly two years to hone their work and produce Between the Fault Lines. Many are known for their involvement in the Bay Area’s longstanding poetry communities and for having work in various journals.
Jannie M. Dressser, MFA, lectures on poetry, writing, and creativity and has taught in adult education programs, private homes, community colleges, middle and high schools, mental hospitals and jails. For five years, she organized and led writing groups to week-long retreats in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
Dresser also organizes free Bay Area Poetry Salons where people read aloud and discuss poetry. In 2004, Dresser co-founded the Bay Area Poets Seasonal Review, a quarterly print newsletter about the poetry scene in the San Francisco Bay Area, which became digital only in 2009. In 2012, she founded Sugartown Publishing, a cooperative publishing house helping independent writers get their work into print and digital medial form and find their audiences.
