The Italian American Writers Association (IAWA) presents writers Joe Sciorra and Michael Steffen at IAWA-East at Sidewalk Cafe ( The reading kicks off with an Open Mic of five minutes.

Joe Sciorra is a folklorist, flash fiction writer and blogger.  He is also the Associate Director for Academic and Cultural Programs at Queens College’s John D. Calandra Italian American Institute, as well as editor of social science journal Italian American Review and Italian Folk: Vernacular Culture in Italian-American Lives.

Michael Steffen, author of three poetry collections, won the Bordighera Prize for his work, Heart Murmur, in 2009.  His latest book is Bad Behavior from Brick Road Poetry Press, published in 2012.  A graduate of the MFA in Creative Writing Program at Vermont College, he currently resides in Lancaster, New York.
