Founded by Salman Rushdie, PEN World Voices Festival convenes poets and writers from around the world to debut new work and further discussions on free expression in all its forms. The theme of the 2013 Festival is Bravery.  Featured writers in the 2013 festival include Judith Butler, Eduardo Galeano, Joy Harjo, Alesksander Hemon, Jamaica Kincaid, Ursula  Krechel, Fran Lebowitz, Claudia Magris, Pierre Michon, Earl Lovelace, Tea Obreht, Sapphire, Charles Simic, Billy Collins, Sonia Sotomayor, Salman Rushdie and others. On April 30th, PEN will produce its annual Gala at the Museum of Natural History, honoring Philip Roth with the PEN Literary Service Award.  The Literary Hosts of the PEN Gala include Martin Amis, Giannina Braschi, Robert Caro, Taju Cole, Billy Collins, Jeff Eugenides, Beth Gutcheon, A.M. Homes, David Henry Hwang, WalterMosley, Robert Pinsky, Francine Prose,  Molly Ringwald, Salman Rushdie, and Zadie Smith.
