Vievee Francis is the author of Blue-Tail Fly(Wayne State University Press, 2006). Her work has appeared in numerous journals and appears in Angles of Ascent: A Norton Anthology of Contemporary African American Poetry. She was the 2009-2010 Poet-in-Residence for the Alice Lloyd Hall Scholars Program at the University of Michigan, and is the recipient of a 2009 Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award and a 2010 Kresge Award. She is an associate editor of Callaloo. Her book Horse in the Dark won the 2010 Northwestern University Cave Canem Prize for a second book.
