Independent Voices comprises the publication of an anthology of poems written by students of New York City independent schools and an evening of poetry reading at Barnes & Noble by these students. One of many programs sponsored by Joint Schools Activities, Inc. (JSA), Independent Voices was created by students of JSA member schools. Both the publication of the anthology and the public reading take place in April each year, to coincide with National Poetry Month. JSA is thrilled to facilitate the participation of student poets in this annual celebration of poetry and its vital place in our culture. Independent Voices is now in its 16th year. |
