Featured Poets:Dina Gatina, Alla Gorbunova, Lev Oborin, Tracy K. Smith, Tina Chang, Matthew Yeager, David Lehman
October 15, 2012, 7:00 p.m.
New York Public Library: Mid-Manhattan Branch, 455 Fifth Avenue (at 40th Street), New York, NY
Carrying forward Russia’s rich poetic tradition, acclaimed rising poets read from their work, discuss the variety and richness of contemporary Russian verse, and consider their art and its role in the context of Russia's political and social reality. Reading alongside them will be US poets (Tracy K. Smith, Tina Chang and Matthew Yeager) whose work, in breadth of vision and acclaim, both relates to and differs from that of the Russian poets. To be moderated by David Lehman, an editor, literary critic, poet, and anthologist of contemporary American literature.
