Dennis Nurkse’s ten volumes of poetry include A Night in Brooklyn (2012), The Border Kingdom (2008), Burnt Island (2006), and The Fall (2004), all published by Alfred Knopf. He is the recipient of Guggenheim and NEA fellowships, grants from NYFA and awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Tanne Foundation, and is winner of the Whiting Writers Award. A long time resident of Brooklyn, he served a term as poet laureate of that borough. He has taught at Rikers Island Correctional Facility and is now on the faculty of Sarah Lawrence College. A book signing and reception follow the reading. |
