Taha Muhammad Ali was a poet of exceptional powers. Born in the Galilee village of Saffuriyya in 1931, he wrote poems that have an almost unparalleled way of infecting readers with feeling and shared experience. “His patient, insistent and often beautiful iterations of who is who and what is what,” wrote one critic, “are as compelling and evocative as the faces and places that any reader has himself or herself loved…” On the first anniversary of the death of this major Palestinian writer, we will celebrate his life and work with readings, reminiscences, and audio and video clips.
