Puerto Rican Studies Association Conference presents writers of the Diaspora. The event opens with a performance by Puerto Rico's most prominent poet and novelist, Giannina Braschi, author of Empire of Dreams, Yo-Yo Boing! and United States of Banana. The conference also features conversations with Diasporican writers and intellecturals including Giannina Braschi, Magdalena Gómez, Aracelis Girmay, Larry LaFontain-Stokes, and Edwin Torres. This 10th Biennial conference convenes over 200 scholars, students, and members of the New York Writers Institute to present and hear papers on Puerto Rican literature, politics, and culture. |
