Laura Jensen

Laura Linnea Jensen was born in Tacoma, Washington, and earned a BA from the University of Washington. She then earned an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.

Jensen’s books include the poetry collections Shelter (Dragon Gate Press, 1985); Memory (Carnegie Mellon University Press, 1982), which was reprinted by Carnegie Mellon University Press as part of their Classic Contemporary Poetry Series in 2006; and Bad Boats (Ecco Press, 1978).

Jensen has been awarded grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Ingram Merrill Foundation, the Washington State Arts Commission, and the Guggenheim Foundation.
