Michigan Writers, Inc. was launched in the summer of 2001 when more than two dozen area writers pooled talents and resources to form an organization dedicated to helping writers hone their craft and publish their work. Michigan Writers holds regular events, publishes the Dunes Review literary journal and holds an annual chapbook contest, thanks to their press, the Michigan Writers Cooperative Press, which publishes the work of emerging writers of poetry, short stories, and creative nonfiction. They also stay connected with a blog, attentive email servers, and also use these resources to help create writing groups throughout the state of Michigan.
