The Louisiana Division of the Arts offers grants to support literary journals, conferences, readings and workshops throughout the state each year, as well as direct support to the state's creative writers. LDA participates occasionally in special initiatives designed to support literary activity, such as the 1999 Deep South Literature and Literacy Consortium.
