ABOUT THE ACADEMY |

Since its groundbreaking first series at the Guggenheim Museum in 1963, launched with a reading featuring John Berryman and Robert Lowell, the Academy of American Poets has brought poets to audiences and audiences to poetry, in New York and beyond.
From free readings during National Poetry Month and in its summer series in Manhattan's Central Park, to signature events such as the annual Awards ceremony and reading, tributes, and other celebrations, the Academy has brought the sound of poetry to many audiences, including an ever-growing audience for audio recordings of these events. |
