Description

My life is in a bit of a frenzy right now. I am ending my hardest semester (with twenty one credits), have two jobs, balancing a delicate personal life, starting a company, and trying to figure out what I am doing after I graduate in May. My skills of time management and organization have saved me. All my life I have been a planner. My planner is an appendage of my body-I do not go anywhere without it. I plan out everything, from what classes I go to each day to when I will shower, to when I make phone calls. I have come to realize that not everything can be planned out. I try to live in the future instead of living in the moment. No matter how I try to plan out my life and make it perfect, there will always be interruptions, good and bad. Recently I have been learning how to take things as they come. It has been a personal struggle; it has been very hard many times, and I know I have many more struggles to look forward to, but I know it is for the best. Trying to be perfect is exhausting, and life is so much more enjoyable when you do what you like instead of attempting to live up to expectations that hinder you from fully living your life. I have decided it is time to start breaking the mold that others and I have created for myself and to jump into my life head first. I chose these poems specifically because they speak of my personal journey. Some poems talk of doing things differently from the majority, some speak of loving life as it is and enjoying all of the little things that come, some speak of living in the present, some comment on others in my life. All of them are connected in my life, and I hope that you get an understanding of where I am in my life right now.
