As Poems Speak to Us
Selected by Gladys Acosta-Melendez
Description

I recently started coaching a group of adolescents and adults on the spectrum. The group share their experiences about how they cope with Autism. We have read aloud and discussed some of their favorite poems. More importantly, they are finding their own voices and are writing poems on many themes. We wrote a group poem to submit to a poetry contest. I encourage them to find poems in their journals and in other materials to use as prompts and inspiration. The poems in this notebook are just a few of the poems that we have read together.
Synopsis
